Summer 2026 highlights on HBO Max in Iceland
In July and August, HBO Max will premiere Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a highly anticipated new series for fans of The Big Bang Theory, as well as the DC Universe drama series Lanterns, which is based on the characters from DC’s Green Lantern comics. For the viewers looking to cool off in the summer heat, the new film Lee Cronin’s The Mummy offers chilling thrills. Meanwhile, the painfully timely new series Tip Toe, written by award-winning screenwriter Russell T Davies, follows neighbours whose relationship grows increasingly tense, with devastating consequences.
Details are subject to change.
TIP TOE
Now available on HBO Max
From multi-BAFTA-winning writer Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Queer As Folk, It’s A Sin), Tip Toe is a new five-part original drama starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey. The series follows Leo and Clive, who have lived next door to each other in Manchester for almost 15 years. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense. Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe. The series, populated with a cast of vibrant characters and underscored with Davies’ trademark wit and deft humour, is an urgent tale that brings a spotlight to bear on the prejudices which are creeping back into our lives.

STUART FAILS TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE
Premieres 24 July
Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well. The brand new series from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, is created, written, and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady. Kyle Newacheck is executive producer and directs multiple episodes.
