Warner Bros. Discovery secures rights to Diabolical: The Epstein Files for HBO Max in Iceland
The 90-minute documentary examines Epstein's crimes, trafficking network and the systemic failures that enabled years of abuse.
Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the acquisition of international* distribution rights to Diabolical: The Epstein Files for HBO Max, which will start rolling out across international territories, including Iceland, from 3 September 2026. The acquisition highlights HBO Max's broader commitment to premium factual storytelling, exploring stories of significant public interest.
Produced and distributed by Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Diabolical: The Epstein Files traces the rise, operations, network and eventual downfall of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender accused of running a long-term sexual abuse and sex trafficking operation that exploited underage girls over many years. It also examines the alleged missed opportunities and institutional failures across law enforcement, legal and social systems that contributed to his criminal activity to continue largely unchecked for years.
With unprecedented access to first-hand accounts and insights from investigators, legal experts, journalists and others directly connected to the Epstein case, including Epstein survivors Lisa Phillips and Ashley Rubright, his brother Mark Epstein and lawyer David Schoen, the 90-minute documentary brings to light the ripple effect of Epstein’s crimes.
Myriam Lopez-Otazu, SVP International Unscripted Content & Global Networks EMEA at Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA, said: "Diabolical: The Epstein Files is a timely examination of a case that not only shook international headlines but profoundly affected perceptions of power and influence. By exploring the scale and consequences of these crimes, the documentary provides our audiences with insight into one of the most significant and disturbing abuse cases in recent history.”
Diabolical: The Epstein Files was produced by Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Jennifer Feller and executive produced by Caitlin Shea.
Diabolical: The Epstein Files (90 min) premieres September 3 on HBO Max in Iceland.
